Description:

The Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) Certificate program at CapU provides students with an exciting career in the legal industry. 

Legal professionals are in high demand in British Columbia and if you’re looking to move into a career in law, the Legal Administrative Assistant program is the right place to start. 

In the program, you'll learn the core procedures for civil and family law litigation, wills and probate, corporate law, real estate conveyancing and mortgaging. 

Your classroom skill training will prepare you for proper handling of legal documents and a comprehensive understanding of legal terminology and court systems. 

Before successful completion of your certificate, you'll gain hands-on practice in a law firm or legal department working alongside lawyers, paralegals and legal administrative assistants and benefiting from their mentorship and experience with legal office procedures.

    Basic requirements 

    • High school graduation 

    Current high school students 

    Grade 12 students can apply for conditional admission based on their final Grade 11 and/or interim Grade 12 marks by uploading their most recent grades (e.g., unofficial transcript or a report card) through EducationPlannerBC. Final admission depends on high school graduation and meeting the specific requirements of the program. 

    Note: Applicants from B.C high schools must release their grades to CapU via the BC Ministry of Education at Student Transcripts Services as soon as possible.
